‘Climate dinosaurs still rule the Liberal Party …’

The Tasmanian Liberal Party has shown its true colours by endorsing a climate sceptic as its third Senate candidate.

Jonathon Duniam, who is a protégé of Senator Eric Abetz, has told the Examiner newspaper he’s yet to be convinced that climate change is man-made ( Examiner HERE ).

At a time of great climate peril, when Australians are demanding serious action, the Tasmanian Liberals are still trying to put climate deniers and sceptics into Federal Parliament.

The climate dinosaurs and obstructionists are still very much in charge of both the state and Federal Liberal Party – both of which have an appalling record on climate change and protecting the environment.

The Turnbull Liberal Government has committed Australia to some of the weakest emissions reductions targets in the developed world, tried to delist part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, sought to sabotage vital climate research at the CSIRO, and carbon emissions have gone up under their woeful Direct Action fraud.

The Tasmanian Liberals decision to endorse a conservative climate change denier for the Senate adds to that poor record.

Only Labor has a serious plan to tackle dangerous climate change by ensuring 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030, a commitment to zero net emissions by 2050, and through an emissions trading scheme.
