The Wilderness Society will host an Open Day in the Styx Valley of the Giants, to celebrate World Heritage and launch a new learning Guide for the Styx.

The Guide is designed to share knowledge and simple stories on six themed tracks in the Styx. The themes include Carbon and forests, Wild Rivers, Cultural Heritage, World Heritage, the Conservation Story and Forest Ecology. The Learning Guide can be viewed here.

‘Presenting’ world heritage (providing access and interpretation) is an obligation under the World Heritage Convention. The Styx Valley, with existing roads, bridges, walking tracks and some of the tallest trees in the world, provides a great opportunity to present Tasmania’s world heritage, and a genuine alternative to controversial huts and helicopter access.

Informed guides will be on hand at the various tracks to help interpret on the various themes.
