Another day, another scare campaign from Labor and the Greens.
The Liberal Government is committed to keeping downward pressure on power prices, while ensuring Hydro’s finances remain strong.
Labor and the Greens simply want to jack up power prices and rip thousands of dollars out of the pockets of Tasmanians by bringing back the carbon tax.
The Liberals abolished the carbon tax, because it was unfair. As a result, power prices fell by five per cent, which saved Tasmanians thousands of dollars.
Hydro’s own corporate plan shows that revenues are forecast to improve and that debt will be reduced over the next four years.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that the previous Labor-Green Government strangled Hydro, dumping the loss-making Bell Bay power station onto its books, along with over $200 million of debt.
Labor’s outrageous claims that there will be brown outs this summer are just plain wrong. Hydro has advised that there are no energy security issues in this State and we will continue to work with Hydro to ensure that remains the case.
