Our consistent position is that Liberal members have a conscience vote on this matter.

The High Court ruled more than 12 months ago that states are not able to legislate to allow for same sex marriage.

However members are able vote in accordance with their conscience on the motion likely to be debated this week.

The Government notes that ordinarily Greens’ Private Members’ Time is limited to 1 hour per week, but given the circumstances of this debate the Government is willing to provide additional time.
