The expansion of Tasmanian seafood icon Mures is a great example of the growing business confidence in Tasmania that’s encouraging investment and jobs growth.

The new multi-million dollar purpose-built processing facility at Cambridge employs 40 Tasmanians, but importantly it has created eight new jobs, and has room for additional growth.

Tasmania’s reputation for producing some of the greatest seafood in the world has inspired a growing appetite for our scale and shellfish, with many top chefs, and home cooks too, demanding Tassie fish.

It is this market demand that has driven the Mures expansion. Its new processing facility will be a hub where up to 300 tonnes of seafood each year can be processed before being sent to restaurants, cafes, hotels and independent supermarkets across Tasmania and Australia.

I congratulate Will and Judy Mure who have created a business that promotes all that’s great about our state; our fresh produce, great people and beautiful environment.

Supporting business growth like that at Mures is the priority of this Government. We are committed to creating a business environment that supports investment and job creation.

Tasmania is heading in the right direction, since the election, business confidence has surged to the highest in the nation and business investment has increased by six per cent.
