The annual International Day of People with Disability Community Fun Day will be held on Sunday 29th November from 11am – 2pm at Long Beach Park, Lower Sandy Bay. The event offers interactive and fun activities for people of all ages and abilities. There will be a free BBQ, face painting, train rides, carnival games, social circus, and free massages.
The event will be officially opened at 11.30am by the Minister for Human Services, Jacquie Petrusma MP, and Hobart Alderman Helen Burnett.
This is the 5th International Day of People with Disability Community Celebration event that has been provided by collaboration between Tascare Society for Children and the Hobart City Council, Glenorchy City Council and Clarence City Council. It is hosted by a different Council each year to ensure that people from all over greater Hobart can fully participate
“The event brings together families and the wider community to join in breaking down the barriers and increasing the inclusion of people with disability in our community” says Tascare Executive Officer, Michele Foley.
“It’s great to work in partnership with the Greater Hobart Councils once again to mark the 22nd anniversary of the International Day of People with Disability. Everyone in the community is welcome to come along and join in the fun” says Ms Foley.
The International Day of People with Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that celebrates progress in breaking down barriers, opening doors, and realising an inclusive society for all.
