Christian Schools Tasmania yesterday announced the appointment of a new Principal for Channel Christian School in Margate.
Mr Keith Roberts will make a tree change to Tasmania from Canberra, where he has held the position of Head of Junior School at Brindabella Christian College for the past nine years.
Christian Schools Tasmania Executive Director Simon Matthews said Mr Roberts was a highly successful school leader, with passions for contemporary learning, child development, Christian values and building positive and inclusive staff that are engaged and motivated to continually develop and improve outcomes.
“Mr Roberts is dedicated to leading a collaborative, high performing team of staff, with a focus on delivering professional development and pastoral care to engage teachers and support them to excel,” Mr Matthews said.
“Throughout his career he has conceptualised and implemented programs and initiatives that have enhanced teaching results and staff engagement, while strengthening parent partnership and community ties with his schools.
“He has a focus on researching and innovating to continue to strengthen Channel’s performance and culture, and equip our students with strong beliefs and skills they need to excel at school and beyond.
“As a Christian leader, he looks forward to joining the Channel family and to teaching within a dynamic team in a school based on a Christian foundation.
“Mr Roberts is appointed after a very successful period of leadership under our current Principal, Mrs Trudy Verdouw. Mrs Verdouw is very excited about our decision to appoint Mr Roberts and is confident he will bring a fresh approach to Channel, while enhancing the nurturing and supportive Christian culture the school is renowned for.”
Mr Roberts will start in his new role at the beginning of the 2016 school year, meeting individually with parents and staff over Terms 1 and 2 to introduce himself and discuss their aspirations for the school into the future.
