Champion triathletes bunker down for Snowy Mountains training camp
Two of the world’s top cross triathlon champions are back in Australia after a gruelling season of racing in the USA and Europe.
Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack, who collectively hold 25 international off-road and adventure triathlon titles, have spent the past week training from Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales fresh from their bumper season in the USA and Europe.
“We are back in Australia to finish off our season with a bang,” said Ben.
“Jacqui and I have spent the last week training on the diverse terrain around Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa to prepare for the Victorian Cross Triathlon Championships on November 28th.”
Ben said he will complete the year with another long distance triathlon race at the nations capital, Canberra in December before the duo return to the Snowy Mountains for the Wicked Wombat Mountain Bike Race.
“We try to schedule at least one training camp at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa each year. It’s a great time for us both to focus without distraction and then to take time in a truly serene part of the world.
“The training experience here, especially the mountain bike and trail running terrain is world-class.
“When you combine that with the other necessities to compete at the highest level like massage, nutritious quality food, massage, gym and indoor pool – we always feel well-prepared after our training-time here.”
