Clients Meet the Staff Day a huge success!
The redevelopment of the Mersey Community Care (MCCA) premises has provided the opportunity for Social Support Coordinator, Miss Sarah Scott to arrange a Client Meet the Staff Day to celebrate Seniors Week, 2015.
MCCA clients were provided with free transport to attend the function, which was held at Mersey Community Care on Friday 23 October.
Almost 40 clients were treated to a lunch and had the opportunity to meet the staff, whom they often only talk to on the phone and never meet face to face.
In addition to lunch, clients were given a tour of the building and the new lift allowed those who otherwise, would not have been able to climb the stairs, to observe the wonderful views from the second story level.
Social Support Coordinator Miss Sarah Scott said “In the past we have conducted Client Meet the Staff Days, but we did not have the facilities to cater for large numbers of people. The new building not only provides a great indoor and outdoor entertaining area, but can now provide adequate toilet facilities, including a disability toilet, which we did not previously have.”
Miss Scott went onto say “The day would not have been as successful without our wonderful team of volunteers who drive the buses, provide assistance to clients and helped the staff to cook and cater for the clients. Our organisation is so lucky to have such caring volunteers who all made sure that the clients were looked after and a little spoilt.”
Operations Manager, Ms Kathryn Edmunds said “Staff had the most wonderful surprise, when one of our lovely clients made a cake and decorated it with a photo of the new building and brought it in to share with everyone. The building redevelopment has meant that the organisation can now plan events to cater for larger numbers of people and we plan to make the Client Meet the Staff Days a regular event on our annual calendar.”
Ms Edmunds also said “Our new facilities can cater for larger numbers of people and we are happy to share our facility with other Charities and not-for-profit organisations that need training or meeting room. We have come from the old cottage that is located in the Molly Malone’s car park, to now having this wonderful new facility and we are very happy to support other organisations that may not have the room that we do to cater for their members.”
