Mental Health Week is part of a national mental health promotion campaign that is held in October
each year to engage people from the community in discussions on how to manage their own mental
health.
There are a wide variety of events happening right across Tasmania this week. Please see the list
below for all the events coming up tomorrow that may have opportunities for media to do
interviews and explore the issues in the diverse and complex area of mental health

SOUTH
Glenorchy Mental Health Week Event
Glenorchy City Council are holding a day of activities for Mental Health Week at the LINC. There will be free
morning tea, Tai Chi, Mindfulness activities, yoga and relaxation, face painting, cooking demonstrations,
mental health information and services and much more!

Join in on 10 activities that you can do that will directly improve your mental health. From massage to candle
making there will be something to suit everyone! There will be information on the day from a range of Mental
Health services as well as a pop up market selling local produce!

Healthy Active Minds – George Town Community Hub.
Youth focus community festival involving expo of mental health providers, Tazorb activities, family focused
activities, ‘mental health begins with me’ photo booth and free BBQ.

My Mental Health @Morton’s
Choose Life Services in conjunction with City Mission will be running a mental health morning in the
community outreach kitchen. There will be food, mental health activities and entertainment throughout the
morning.

Depression – Let’s Talk!
Community Education Session on depression and seeking help for mental health issues, followed by afternoon
