The veil is being lifted on the Liberal Government’s privatisation agenda.

Labor Leader Bryan Green said it’s becoming increasingly clear that the Liberals have broken their promise not to sell assets.

“The Liberals have shown their true colours and are embarking on a massive privatisation agenda,” Mr Green said.

“The Treasury building and the TAFE building on Campbell Street in Hobart, along with the public offices in St John Street in Launceston are all in the Government’s sights.

“That is not to mention the privatisation of 500 public housing properties, the sale of Forestry Tasmania’s plantations and negotiations that could see China Power become the controlling shareholder of Entura.

“The Liberals are being less than transparent when it comes to their plans to sell off valuable assets.

“Who is providing the Government with the “independent expert” advice?

“Last month the Premier denied the Treasury building has been earmarked for sale. Today he said no decisions had been made.

“However, he did not deny that two floors in the Parliament Square development have been set aside for staff from Treasury to move into.

“And the Minister for State Growth refused to rule out plans to offload the TAFE premises on Campbell Street in Hobart.

“It appears it’s a case of ‘you name it, the Liberals will sell it.”
