The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to improving services to deliver better outcomes for vulnerable Tasmanians.
Today I was pleased to attend a forum in the Huon Valley to discuss our Joined-Up Human Services Project, which is all about connecting people to the range of services they need.
The Huon Valley was chosen to demonstrate a ‘place based’ initiative aimed at strengthening service provider relationships for greater collaboration and cooperation to the benefit of individuals and the local community.
About 200 people involved in service delivery in the Huon Valley were invited to participate in today’s forum to collectively explore how providers are already working together and how this can be improved.
Local service providers have identified nearly 120 organisations that are key to the community, including housing and crisis accommodation, family violence, disability support, emergency services, schools, emergency food relief, health, community aged care and mental health.
The forum is the first step in a process of ongoing engagement to gain an understanding of what a highly collaborative service network might look like.
Over the next 18 months, the Government will continue to work with the service network in the Huon Valley to look at how it can be strengthened.
The goal is to have everyone working together to improve outcomes for Tasmanians in need, and I congratulate those who attended today’s forum and who are participating in this exciting and innovative project.
Jacquie Petrusma, Minister for Human Services
