Organisations like Tamar FM Radio are vital to the community fabric of regional Tasmania.
Today it was my pleasure, on behalf of the Bass Liberal team of Peter Gutwein and Sarah Courtney, to open Tamar FM’s new headquarters in the Memorial Hall Building, right in the middle of George Town.
The Hodgman Liberal Government made a $20,000 election pledge to help Tamar FM move from Anne Street into the Memorial Hall to help secure the viability of the organisation.
I congratulate President Kevin Ellis and his team of nearly 30 volunteers on their vital community work and the enthusiasm they bring to promoting the Tamar Valley.
Tamar FM is self-funded and completely run by volunteers and this move was seen as vital to the sustainability of the organisation.
Tomorrow (Saturday Oct 24) there is an open day from 9am to 1.30pm and I urge people to visit the station and see the tremendous work that is done there and, if possible, make a small donation.
Michael Ferguson, Minister for Information Technology and Innovation
