Veolia’s new corporate and operations base at Cambridge is an important vote of confidence in its workforce and the broader Tasmanian economy.
For three decades Veolia has been a leader when it comes to environmental services, and today’s opening of the new Cambridge centre is the next phase.
The $7 million investment in the modern and purpose built environmental services centre will be a base for about 140 employees and 90 vehicles.
Importantly, the new base has room for growth, with the ability to support an additional 20 staff and 20 extra truck or vehicles.
The new facility confirms Veolia’s long term commitment to Tasmania.
This is yet another sign of the growing confidence in our state, which was yesterday highlighted by the MyState report that found the state’s economy is firmly on the rebound, and the outlook is positive.
Since we came to Government, 6,200 new jobs have been created, business confidence is the highest in the nation and retail trade is at record highs.
Our long-term Plan is all about economic growth and job creation, and we’re starting to see the results.
Will Hodgman, Premier
