Showcase Entertainment Group and The Harbour Agency are pleased to announce a tour that will be a treat for fans of DR HOOK nationwide. 15 concerts from coast to coast across Australia, with an evening of Dr Hook’s “Timeless” hits fronted by the legendary voice of founding lead vocalist DENNIS LOCORRIERE, the true voice of DR HOOK, and his celebrated live band. Since the Dr Hook’s farewell tour in 1985, Dennis Locorriere (Low-Cor-Ee-Air) has toured the world performing for the most part as a solo artiste with just his magical voice and an acoustic guitar. Dennis has now played to well over 200,000 people with this show, which included a comprehensive 26 date tour of Australia in 2014. Amongst the many highlights of recent years, Dennis performed a set on the main stage of Glastonbury Festival in 2004.

Following the Top 10 success of Universal Records’ TIMELESS album released in the UK in 2014 – a two disc, 40 track collection of Dr Hook’s Greatest Hits and favourite album tracks personally chosen by executive producer Dennis Locorriere, Universal decided to release the album in other countries in 2015 including Australia. Hot on the heels of the release dates, Dennis has embarked on a World Tour to celebrate the ‘Hook’ legacy and perform the songs how the fans remember them sounding – with THE voice that recorded them.

Dennis says, “There was quite a long period of time when I shied away from performing many of the classic Hook songs. Although the band and our music was popular all around the world, those days weren’t always the happiest of times for us and I felt I needed to put some distance between my past and the present. Now the years have flown by and several of the original band members have sadly passed away. I’ve since come to understand and appreciate just how much these songs still mean to so many people so when I was approached by Universal I welcomed the opportunity to become totally involved in the production of this album. I feel like now is the right time to hit the road to celebrate my history and give the fans an evening of music and entertainment they will love!”

Throughout the 70’s and 80’s, Dr Hook enjoyed enormous global success with six singles each selling a million copies, huge album sales, sold out world tours and a little controversy. Ironically, in Great Britain, the smash hit “The Cover Of The Rolling Stone” was banned on both radio and TV by the BBC, who deemed it to be a blatant advertisement for the American rock music magazine. Dr Hook’s final studio album “Players In The Dark” was released in 1982 and Ray Sawyer left to pursue a solo career in the same year. Dennis continued on with the band, doing two more sellout tours of the U.K. and Australia before disbanding the group in 1985.

In Australia, the audiences couldn’t get enough Dr Hook. The group achieved two Number One singles (“Sylvia’s Mother” and “Walk Right In”) amongst eight Top 10 singles (“Girls Can Get It” #3, “Wild Colonial Boy” #4, “The Millionaire” #8, “Only Sixteen” #8, “A Little Bit More” #10 and “Sharing The Night Together” #10). “Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk” made it to #11. Dr Hook toured Australia five times between the late 70’s and mid 80’s. Their popularity throughout Australia made them regular visitors and virtual household names. The group was also seen regularly on Australia’s most popular national TV shows including Countdown and The Don Lane Show. Dr Hook’s version of “Wild Colonial Boy” which was first performed on The Don Lane Show, became a Top 5 hit and has been included as the final track on “Timeless” as an Australian exclusive.

After Dr Hook, Dennis lived in Nashville and carved out a successful career as a much sought after songwriter, penning songs for major artists including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Helen Reddy, Crystal Gayle, Southside Johnny and more. A strong and successful solo career followed, with Dennis recording and releasing three studio albums. By this time, Dennis had moved to the UK to live and in 2008, toured the UK as a member of Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings. Upon returning to Australia in 2014 to tour for the first time in fifteen years, Dennis was reunited with Australian audiences who had not forgotten their love for Dr Hook and the timeless hits that were destined to stand the test of time.
