Attorney-General Vanessa Goodwin: Please … our children need our help to get harsher sentencing for pedophiles …
Hello my name is Anne, I am from Tasmania ,and I am starting this petition because childhood sexual abuse is something that I feel very strongly and passionate about.
I am asking that there is to be harsher sentencing laws put in place for pedophiles, as i feel that at the moment all they are getting is a slap on the wrist and being told not to do it again.
My daughter’s abuser was abusing her for 4 years before we found out and all he got was 6 1/2 years and only has to serve half of that. Sometimes my daughter asks me what was the point of even going to the police mum nothing really happened to him.
He will be back out soon anyway then what will happen.?
His eligible for parole in April next year so i can just imagine her disress.
My daughter is a beautiful girl that I’m so very proud of for being brave enough to break the silence but it breaks my heart to see her in silent pain all the time.
She lives a very secluded life now because of her abuse, she didn’t even finish grade 7.
All she likes to do is sit in her room by herself and watch movies, not exactly the life I had planned for my little princess
Myself personally the average global sentence that I see handed down is 6-8 years and I’m sorry but that is now where near good enough and its grossly unfair on their victim, with the horrific scars that child is left with for the rest of their life.
