I extend my sincere sympathy and condolences to the wife and family of former Liberal Lyons MHA Robert (Bob) Mainwaring OAM who died on Wednesday.

Mr Mainwaring was first elected to the House of Assembly in 1986 and served until 1989, he was then re-elected in 1992 until 1998. He also served as Government Whip.

Before entering Parliament, Bob was a sheep and cattle farmer and warden of Flinders Island, where he lived for 25 years.

He was known for his hard work and commitment to the electorate and his loyalty to family, friends, colleagues and the people he represented. He was awarded life membership of the Liberal Party and remained active in his branch until his death.

He leaves behind his wife Carla, three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
