Gilles-Eric Séralini, professor of molecular biology at Caen University and a member of the Committee for Independent Research and Information on Genetic Engineering (CRIIGEN) is internationally well known and respected for independent research on the toxicology of GMOs and pesticides for the past 15 years. He and his team published the first long-term toxicity study of a pesticide and a GMO in 2012. This was confirmed and republished with new data in June 2014. Human exposure to Roundup residues and their bioaccumulation is still poorly characterized and needs to be further investigated.
