STATE: Tasmania showcased to some of the world’s top foodies
THE godfather of Tasmanian whisky Bill Lark was thrilled to catch up with celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal last night at the Restaurant Australia Invite The World To Dinner gala event.
The pair joined more than 250 guests, including 80 of the world’s most influential foodies, enjoying an exquisite evening celebrating Australian food and wine prepared by chefs Ben Shewry, Peter Gilmore and Neil Perry.
Mr Lark said he and Blumenthal chatted about Lark Whiskey being served at the famed chef’s restaurant Fat Duck when it opens in Melbourne in February.
There was also the connection of Mr Lark’s son Jack, the runner-up of MasterChef Junior, who met his mentor and idol Blumenthal following his success on the show.
Blementhal was one of the many international influential food and wine writers, broadcasters and bloggers, who also included US chef and author Alice Waters, British food critic A.A. Gill, Chinese Masterchef judge Yifan Liu and Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
They were joined by Australian gastronomic heavyweights such as Stephanie Alexander, Maggie Beer and Matt Moran.
