Labor Leader and Shadow Minister for State Growth Bryan Green has welcomed the appointment of John Perry as Tasmania’s first Coordinator-General.
“The Liberals have taken a long time to make this announcement but it is pleasing they have selected someone with an understanding of Tasmania and international business experience,” Mr Green said.
“The Liberals have talked a very big game when it comes to growing Tasmania’s economy, I wish Mr Perry the best of luck turning their one line slogans into results.
“It will be interesting to see how much capacity Mr Perry will be given to effect change within departments.
“Labor’s pledged to be positive about Tasmania’s economy from Opposition and we look forward to working with the Coordinator-General into the future.
“The timing of the announcement is regrettable however, with one in four staff in State Growth facing the chop.
“The Government needs to be open and transparent about how much this new office will cost at a time when people are losing their jobs.”
