The appointment of Bernard Dwyer as the new Chief Executive Officer of TT-Line will help to drive the company’s new passenger-focused business plan.
The appointment of Mr Dwyer as an excellent fit for the company, given his background and expertise in Tasmania’s tourism industry, and I congratulate the TT-Line board on this decision.
The Liberal Government has a plan to increase visitors to Tasmania to 1.5 million a year by 2020 and TT-Line through the Spirit of Tasmania ferries is a key driver of that growth.
We expect to receive a new business plan from TT-Line next month that will give effect to the Government’s commitment to increase passenger numbers through more frequent sailings, refurbished passenger facilities and lower average fares.
We look forward to the contribution Mr Dwyer will make to the new TT-Line with his background as a director of the company, senior executive in the Federal Group and management consultant.
As a current director of the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania, I am hopeful that Mr Dwyer will use this valuable expertise to lead a closer alignment between TT-Line’s marketing strategy and that of the State’s tourism industry.
Mr Dwyer is a proud Tasmanian and I am confident that the new TT-Line will be in very strong hands as the company plays its part to help deliver the Government’s policy objectives to grow our tourism industry.
