25 free things to do in Sydney
Although Sydney has a reputation for being one of the most expensive cities in the world to live, if you holiday there, it’s an entirely different matter.
The bargain hunters at www.cheapflights.com.au have scoured the city and found 25 activities and attractions that won’t cost a cent.
Cheapflights Travel Expert Kara Segedin explains that if you know here to look there’s a wealth of fun, free activities available in Sydney.
“Sydney has an abundance of natural and cultural attractions and most of them are super-scenic making them perfect for bragging rights on social media,” she said.
“The Opera House is a great starting point and while the events inside are usually ticketed you can still savour the building’s striking design both day and night,” said Ms Segedin.
While Sydney’s architecture is young by historical standards, there’s still some great history around Government House, the Sydney Observatory, St Mary’s Cathedral and the Conservatorium of Music.
“One of the best-kept secrets for nature lovers is the Birdlife Discovery Centre, open every weekend. There are guided walks on Saturday morning at 10.30am – which is a great way to spot beautiful birds living it up in the local habitat,” said Ms Segedin.
Whilst in the great outdoors, Sydney has some spectacular natural locations ranging from the Blue Mountains National Park to the world famous Bondi Beach – and the breathtaking Bondi-to-Coogee or Bondi-to-Bronte coastal walks.
All of the items on the Cheapflights list are easily accessible by cheap public transport – but if you are looking for free transportation, then the free Sydney CBD Shuttle bus, which runs around the city every 10 minutes, is for you.
