Shadow Tourism Minister Scott Bacon has warmly welcomed the latest Tasmanian Tourism Snapshot.

“It’s so pleasing to see annual tourist numbers above one million,” Mr Bacon said.

“This great result is thanks to the hard work and innovation of all in the industry.

“Visitors are staying for longer and spending more money, a testament to the quality of the experiences offered in Tasmania.

“1,057,900 visitors spent $1.73 billion in the year ending June 2014.

“Labor pledges to be positive from opposition, talking up Tasmania’s achievements at every opportunity.

“These figures should fill the industry with enormous confidence as it looks forward to an exciting summer period.”
