The Theatre Council of Tasmania (TCT) is delighted to announce the launch of its 2014 Tasmanian Theatre Awards campaign today. Awards patrons and well-known actors of stage and screen, Garry McDonald (ABC pic above )and Diane Craig have arrived in Hobart to launch the campaign at a VIP function 6pm, this evening at Dockside Penthouse No. 2, Hobart.
TCT Chairman, Rod Anderson said that “Apart from being one of the most unforgettable events ever held in Tasmania, the Tasmanian Theatre Awards will offer a powerful platform for alignment with the Tasmanian business sector.
“Tasmanians especially love the performing arts and why wouldn’t we? For a small island state, we boast a vibrant and active performing arts sector – from companies that tour locally, nationally and internationally to vital, regionally-based theatre that support locals and entertain thousands.
“Supporting the Tasmanian Theatre Awards campaign will help us to celebrate significant achievement and to recognise outstanding talent,” Rod said.
Tassie’s very first Theatre Awards, known colloquially known as The Errols, aim to celebrate the vast diversity and outstanding achievements of the Tasmanian Performing Arts sector.
The Theatre Council of Tasmania (TCT) launched the inaugural Tasmanian Theatre Awards in February, 2014 and the judging process is well underway. The inaugural Awards ceremony will take place at a gala dinner, early in 2015.
