I was sexually assaulted …

Meg Minkley has used her daily art practice to recover from the trauma of sexual assault.

From the time she was a child and a prolific drawer, art has been a huge part of Meg’s life.

She studied fine arts at university, and discovered a love of travel. Then, in 2013 Meg set out on a long adventure in Mexico.

Just weeks into her trip, while taking a break from her travel companion, Meg was drugged and assaulted at her accommodation.

On returning to Australia she was unable to access the support she needed to come to terms with what had happened.

So she turned to her art and sat down to draw every day for 365 days; which has brought her solace and recovery.
