The Liberal Government is taking action to save Tasmanian taxpayers.
Unlike the former Labor Green government which boosted staff numbers in the dying days before it was kicked out of office, the Liberal Government has reduced spending on the Premier’s Office, the Tasmanian Government Communications Office and ministerial support.
As a result of office relocations and co-locations, the overall budget for support for Ministers and Parliamentary office holders is $1.3 million less than under Labor and the Greens.
In the 2013-14 financial year, the former Labor Green government spent $14.053 million on the following expenses:
Premier’s Office: $2.208 m
Communications Office: $1.056 m
Ministerial Transport: $2.066m
Ministerial Offices : $6.698m
Whole of MPS: $2.025m
Total $14.053m
Under the Liberal Government this cost has been cut by $1.3 million, to $12.741 million.
Premier’s Office: $2.401m
Communications office: $0.887m
Ministerial transport: $1.566m
Ministerial Offices: $6.057m
Whole of MPS: $1.830m
Total: $12.741m
As we promised during the election campaign, we are taking action to save taxpayers money.
