Alice McGushin, a medical student from Burnie, is on an ambitious mission to ensure that we and her generation survive the worst aspects of climate change.

This young community champion is a member of a 70-strong team from Doctors for the Environment Australia which is running in the Melbourne Marathon Festival on 12 October to raise awareness about the link between wellbeing and a healthy environment – a timely theme given the UN climate summit.

Alice will be running the full marathon at the event, and is currently getting up at 5.30am each morning to put in a gruelling 90 km worth of running practice every week.

Alice is an inspiring and passionate climate activist. She has just returned from Taiwan where she ran a 3 day workshop for the International Federation of Medical Students on climate change and health.

You can see her in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yvi0JCLO2rY , which among many international meetings was also played at the WHO conference on Climate and Health.
