The Huon Valley local government elections in October will be all about how your council will manage the dire challenges facing the valley, and about the reforms that are vitally necessary if we are to sustain and improve council’s services to the community in the face of reduced external funding.
To elect the best people to lead and manage your council on your behalf requires the community to be fully conversant with the qualities and skills of candidates.
In the weeks ahead, as a candidate for councillor and mayor, I will provide you with details of my six (6) key policies and programs. These will embrace:
– Township revitalisation
– Roads and infrastructure
– Economic development
– Youth employment and sport
– A municipality-wide people’s contribution
– Council staff support
In light of today’s fluid and sensitive economic conditions, October’s elections have to be about the type of council you want to manage the changes that will be necessary. It is also important that a council that represents the interests of the entire community should be elected.
My programs will deliver real economic reform that will create a sound environment for competition, innovation and investment in our valley.
I offer a way forward that will empower the community to participate in, and deliver, an agenda that addresses the problems inherent in the overall poor performance of the Huon Valley in particular and Tasmania as a whole.
My first statement, attached, outlines my background and philosophy. I would appreciate it if you would pass on this information to friends and associates, and also ask them if they wish to be added to my email list.
Details of my policies and programs will be provided shortly.
