More than 160 free educational seminars and workshops will be on offer across the state during
WorkSafe Tasmania Month in October, ranging in topic from work-related driver safety to mental
health first aid in the workplace.
WorkCover Tasmania Board member, Richard Lowrie, said WorkSafe Tasmania Month, which runs
from 29 September – 31 October 2014, was part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness of work
health and safety and reduce work-related injury, illness and deaths.
“To help us achieve these goals, WorkSafe Month will offer a wide range of information sessions in
each region of the state to help people learn new and innovative work health and safety practices
and encourage everyone to make safety a priority,” Mr Lowrie said.
“Whether you want to learn about working at heights, carrying out manual tasks safely, sitting at
your workstation or preventing bullying and creating a positive workplace culture, there will be an
information session to suit your needs and interests.
“The WorkSafe Month 2014 Program of Events, which was launched today, is now available and all
Tasmanians are encouraged to get a copy of the program and register to attend a free work health
and safety focussed seminar.
“Regardless of your immediate work health and safety needs, everyone’s goal is to go home safely at
the end of each working day, so join thousands of Tasmanians taking part in WorkSafe Month to
improve your health and wellbeing.”
