Are you interested in seeking office at the next local government elections in October? If so you should attend this information forum to be held at The Village, 20 Melbourne Street, Triabunna on September 4th commencing at 4.30pm.
Facilitated by the Eastcoast Regional Development Organisation (ERDO) the information forum will be addressed by staff from the Local Government Office and the Electoral Office.
ERDO President, Tom Teniswood, said “The purpose of the forum is to allow potential candidates, and those with an interest in local government, to come to grips with the ‘workings’ of a council, the roles and responsibilities of being a councillor. We live in one of the most sought after municipalities in Tasmania, the demands from residents, visitors and developers are placing huge pressures on our infrastructure and it is the role of our Council to balance all of this. It is an exciting time for GlamorganSpringBay and our group encourages people with enthusiasm, foresight and time to seek election.”
At the forthcoming elections votors in Glamorgan Spring Bay will be choosing a Council, with a 4 year term, of 8 Councillors (formerly 9) in an ‘all out, all in’ election.
“So if you are considering standing for election please come along, or if you know someone that you think would be a good councillor let them know about this forum. We need a balanced, dynamic Council to ensure our region develops in a sustainable way whilst not sacrificing the allure of the east coast” said Tom.
“This information forum is consistent with the ERDO vision ‘To facilitate a collaborative and optimistic approach to community and economic development enabling the region to respond positively to its future’, Tom added.
The information forum will be held at The Village, 20 Melbourne Street, Triabunna on September 4th commencing at 4.30pm.
This information forum is open to interested parties from other municipalities including neighbouringSorell, Tasman, BreakO’Day and Southern Midlands.
