The Errols Are Coming! Open Invitation to Design the Tasmanian Theatre Awards

Posted on

The Theatre Council of Tasmania (TCT) is delighted to announce that submissions for the design of the Tasmanian Theatre Award opened today.

TCT Chairman, Rod Anderson said that he was looking forward to seeing the variety of creative ideas Tasmanian designers would submit for Tassie’s very first Theatre Awards.

“We don’t know whether we will have a sculpture, a statuette, a plaque or even a trophy, so it will be very exciting to see what sort of imaginative entries come in.

“Submissions close at 5pm on Friday, 5 September 2014 and we are offering a $2000 cash prize to the winning entry,” Rod said.

“TCT are looking for a unique Tasmanian design which symbolises our place in the performing arts, has the capability to be used and produced economically over several years and, which has strong artistic merit – something which award recipients will be proud to display.”

The Awards (colloquially known as the Errols) aim to celebrate the vast diversity and outstanding achievements of the Tasmanian Performing Arts sector.

The Theatre Council of Tasmania (TCT) launched the inaugural Tasmanian Theatre Awards in February, 2014 and the judging process is about to reach its half-way point on 31 July. The inaugural Awards ceremony will take place at a gala dinner, early in 2015.
