Hobart’s independent youth broadcaster Edge Radio is teaming up with Sydney’s FBi Radio for their national Music Open Day project on Monday 21 July.
A longstanding monthly fixture on FBi’s calendar, Music Open Day gives local emerging musicians the opportunity to step inside the station and meet with the Music Director and music programming team behind FBi, and seek out advice from various other music industry representatives.
FBi’s music director Stephen Goodhew said “Over 300 artists have been to Music Open Day in the last 12 months. Oliver Tank, Cloud Control, Gang of Youths, Movement are all examples of the kind of talent that have responded to and engaged with our Music Open Day in the past and gone on to establish themselves as prominent figures in the Australian music scene. It’s a great way to discover new talent and give emerging musicians some valuable advice about the industry.”
This is the first time that FBi’s Music Open Day has left Sydney – coinciding with the first time the station’s Northern Lights competition has been open to anyone in Australia. One solo artist and one band will win the musical trip of a lifetime: an all-expenses paid adventure to Reykjavik to play on the internationally renowned Iceland Airwaves festival. Northern Lights is open for entries from June 26 to July 23.
The Hobart Music Open Day with Edge Radio is a great opportunity for local musicians to find out more about how they could win FBi’s Northern Lights competition in 2014, as well as getting invaluable advice from music industry professionals.
