In a recent phone chat with Adam Brand he says of Tasmania that he ‘absolutely loves it’. Adam has walked its wilderness and of course he’s a self-confessed ‘foodie’ for which he says Tasmania if one of the best places in the world.

In fact Adam tells me he was close to buying a business in Tasmania. Adam has, true to his name, produced a definite ‘brand’. He has translated his love of food into the purchase of two restaurants called ‘Brandys’. one in Townsville and another in Coffs Harbour. Adam believes some of the best conversations take place at the dinner table and so food unites us in one of the best possible ways.

Away from food and the restaurant business Adam is an award winning composer and singer and our chat turns to the intended subject, Adam’s new album.

Adam credits some of the inspiration for his latest album to recently attending a Bruce Springsteen (who he calls a legend) concert that needed no embellishment, no addition of lasers or trapeze, just ‘a big band’ and ‘raw rock and roll.’

Adam’s new album is lyrical, raw ,honest and wasn’t written with the primary motive to sell but rather to ‘express what is in my heart’ because Adam is a firm believer in ‘to go with my heart’.
With a mix of musical genres on this album Adam is not afraid of alienating any fans.
Adam says his fans are not necessarily ‘pure country’ and believes they have an eclectic range of music on their play list. Adam has a healthy respect for all musical means of expression.

One meaning of the name Brand is ‘beacon’ and indeed Adam is a beacon in the country and extended music genres.

You can see Adam perform on Friday 12 September at Launceston Country Club and Saturday 13 September at Wrest Point Show Room.

Adam’s album ‘My Side of the Street’ is out August 8.
