More time on the beat and less paperwork are the outcomes promised by an innovative new computer program developed in-house by Tasmania Police.
The Police Infringement Notice System (PINS) will save the equivalent of 20.5 hours a day of police work because it will result in officers spending less time processing infringement notices.
PINS is a mobile app that allows officers to issue on-the-spot infringement notices for a range of offences on their tablet computers, instead of the old paper tickets.
This Australian-first initiative by Tasmania Police will help achieve the Liberal Government’s commitment by putting more officers back on the frontline.
The Government is working to rebuild police numbers after they were slashed under Labor and the Greens, with the recruiting process underway to put an extra 108 officers on our streets.
