The Liberal Government is moving to clean up one of the more striking examples of the former Labor-Green Government’s bungling, the Police Vessel Fortescue.
The Fortescue proved to be a $2 million white elephant, a vessel not fit-for-purpose that was taken out of service due to problems that arose almost as soon as it was launched.
In order to realise at least some value from this sorry episode, the vessel is now being offered for sale, with offers over $280,000 invited.
The Fortescue was listed with a qualified Tasmanian-based broker on June 13, and print and online advertising has already commenced.
In contrast to the mismanagement that we saw under Labor and the Greens, the Liberal Government is acting decisively to bring this shameful Labor saga to a close.
