A Green front group’s shameless online boasting about a fall in a mining company’s share price demonstrates the arrogance of its anti-Tasmanian and anti-jobs agenda.
Save the Tarkine’s website has a report card listing its “achievements”, which includes a stated objective of deterring investment in Venture Minerals.
The group, whose patron is Bob Brown and which is headed by perennial failed Green candidate Scott Jordan, brags: “Venture shares have fallen 36 per cent since the lodging of the Federal Court challenge to the Riley Creek strip mine approval.”
Venture’s only crime, in the eyes of the Greens, is that it wants to develop new mines in Tasmania that will create jobs in a region where they are much in need.
It is an appalling display of arrogance and contempt for Tasmanians, and North-West Tasmanians in particular, that this Green group openly boasts of the damage its actions are inflicting on a company that wants to invest in our state.
Not only are the Greens and their fellow travellers not prepared to accept the will of the Tasmanian people, they refuse to accept the decisions of Federal Courts.
The Liberal Government condemns the actions of this Green front group and will continue to back the mining industry as we get on with the job of creating jobs and rebuilding our economy.
