The Liberal Government is delivering on its commitment to cut the number of boards and committees.

Today, I tabled legislation to abolish the Tasmanian Climate Action Council.

The amendment bill removes sections of the Climate Change (State Action) Act 2008 that relate to the Council.

The Liberal Government has paid tribute to past and present members of the Council for their work over the past five years.

The Government remains committed to sensible and practical action in response to the issue of climate change.

We will continue to actively advocate for Tasmania playing an even greater role in providing clean, renewable energy into the national market. Supplying renewable energy is one the most significant and practical ways Tasmania can make a contribution to addressing this issue.

We are confident the work previously done by the Council can be addressed through other suitability qualified staff across Government.
