The Liberal Government is getting on with the job of rebuilding essential services.
The Government is pleased to announce that Housing Choices Tasmania has been selected to manage more than 1,000 public housing properties in North West Tasmania as part of the Better Housing Futures program.
Housing Choices Tasmania will take on the management of 1,172 properties in Somerset, Shorewell Park, Acton, West Ulverstone, East Devonport and Latrobe.
Better Housing Futures gives tenants more choice and access to more services. If tenants like what the Better Housing Futures provider offers, they can select to have them manage their tenancy.
The selected providers will each set up a local office, making it easier for tenants to access their new tenancy manager and to get housing support and services.
The final stage of the program will happen on July 14, when Community Housing Limited takes on management of properties in the North of the state.
Tasmania is on track to become the only State to achieve the 35 per cent target set under the Nation Building and Economic Stimulus Plan and National Affordable Housing Agreement.
The transfer of public housing to the community sector is consistent with the Liberal Government’s commitment to a new way of providing services to the most vulnerable Tasmanians.
