On the back of the global trend to film local versions of Pharrell William’s No 1 song, Happy, a group of Hobart residents have released their own Happy version to celebrate Hobart as well as calling attention to the No Cable Car on Mt Wellington Campaign.
“We are excited to be part of the first version of Happy filmed in Hobart. We were lucky to have incredible weather when filming which showed off the beautiful, natural and unique Mountain that towers over Hobart,” said Ted Cutlan, a member of Residents Opposed to the Cable Car (ROCC).
Fiona Perrin, a mother of three, and long-time resident of Hobart, also put on her dancing shoes, “Most of us don’t go out in public and dance but being part of Happy Hobart was for a good cause – the long-term protection of Mt Wellington.
“I did have to bribe my teenagers with fresh pancakes to get up early the morning we filmed though. As a family, we are passionate about Hobart and the beautiful surroundings that we live in so it was worth it.” Ms Perrin concluded.
“We wanted to get locals involved in doing something fun as well as being able to send a clear message to the cable car proponent, Mr Adrian Bold, as well as the Mt Wellington Trust, Cascade Brewery and Hobart City Council that we are Happy without a cable car on Mt Wellington.” concluded Ted Cutlan.
