Despard Gallery is one of Hobart’s longest running contemporary commercial art galleries. For over 27 years Despard has represented Tasmanian artists both nationally and internationally.
The Gallery is now taking on a new form. In collaboration with award winning architect firm Room 11, Despard will be redeveloping the 1837 ordnance store building into a purpose built contemporary gallery. This exciting project will give Tasmanian artists a cutting edge space to exhibit contemporary fine and decorative art and design within the creative precinct of Salamanca.
In anticipation of the redevelopment, Despard is holding a 20-day renovation sale. All works on display will be discounted by 10 – 30%. The opening event on Wednesday 11th June from 5pm will be held over two floors. The Collect Scheme applies to many pieces.
Champagne opening begins at 5pm on Wednesday 11 June. People are encouraged to come early.
