Bearing Witness…… an evening of story, music and image.

Sometimes sad, sometimes funny, sometimes helpless, sometimes hopeful, but always reflecting the great resilience of the human spirit

Bearing Witness is a theatre production that had its origins in an idea for a community theatre piece that celebrated and acknowledged the resilience of survivors of torture and trauma.

Under the professional guidance of theatre director and playwright, Sue Benner (for whom a theatre is named after in Brisbane!), what has emerged is a mosaic of narrative, music, song, dance and imagery that will be performed by members of the CaLD community as well as Phoenix and MRC Settlements staff.

The project is being filmed during rehearsals, in outside locations and will also be filmed on the night of the performance with a view to creating a documentary that will serve as a resource for community groups.

Many people have so generously contributed their time and expertise to this project and in its unfolding; the promise of a moving and engaging performance emerges.
