The Liberal Government is helping business to create jobs in Tasmania.
Today we are announcing the start of yet another job growing initiative – the Small Business Jobs Bonus.
The Small Business Jobs Bonus will see the Liberal Government provide up to $1000 for new positions created by Tasmanian small businesses between 1 July 2014 and 30 June 2015.
Small business is the engine room of our economy, with 36,000 small business employing over 105,000 people in Tasmania. If we increased the number of people employed in small business by just one percent, it would create another 1,000 jobs.
For full time positions, the Bonus will be $1000 paid in two tranches: $500 after the job has been filled for six months, and the remaining $500 after another six months.
Employers interested in finding out more about the Small Business Jobs Bonus can contact Business Tasmania on 1800 440 026.
The Small Business Jobs Bonus will be capped at $2 million and will support the creation of up 2,000 new jobs.
This is yet another jobs-focused initiative by the Liberal Government, following on from the permanent headworks holiday, disaggregating government contracts to make it easier for local businesses to successfully tender, and starting work to reform the planning system.
We are also committed to a range of other job growing actions, including a payroll tax rebate for medium and big business and establishing a $12 million Regional Revival Fund to facilitate construction of infrastructure required for major job-creating private sector projects.
This New Jobs Bonus complements and is in addition to the Commonwealth Government’s Tasmanian Jobs Programme, which offers a $3,250 payment to businesses that provide full time jobs to people who have been unemployed for at least six months.
This means that businesses who employ eligible job-seekers could be eligible for up to $4,250.
