The position of Southern Tasmanian Area Health Services CEO, held by Jane Holden, has been formally abolished by the Premier on the advice of THO-South Acting CEO Matthew Daly.

Ms Holden now has 48 hours to respond to the intention that her employment be terminated.

If Ms Holden is unable to provide reasons to satisfy Mr Daly, he will terminate her employment and a payout will be provided in line with her five-year contract, to which she was signed up to by the former Labor-Green Government.

Mr Gavin Austin did not provide a response to the Premier’s earlier request to show cause why he should not be suspended immediately from his position, pending a Code of Conduct investigation.

Subsequently, the Premier has suspended Mr Austin from his position as CEO of THO-North West while the inquiry takes place.

A Code of Conduct investigation will now commence to consider allegations detailed against Mr Austin in the Integrity Commission report tabled in Parliament.

While this investigation takes place, Mr Austin will maintain full pay and entitlements in accordance with his Instrument of Appointment.

On the recommendation of the Governing council, Ms Karen Linegar has been appointed Acting CEO of THO-North West.

While this is a difficult time, I want to assure all Tasmanians that the Liberal Government is committed to rebuilding our health system and giving Tasmanians the health care they need and deserve.
