… through a targeted commercial and social media strategy
CBS workers, who support people with a disability and the elderly, are already amongst the lowest paid members of Tasmania’s workforce.
The hard line strategy of CBS Management continues to frustrate HACSU Members, who are seeking to maintain existing work conditions and have wages that keep pace with the increasing cost of living.
“HACSU have met with the CBS Board. Unfortunately, in spite of our representations to the Board, it appears that they support the management of CBS in slashing hard won wages and conditions,” says HACSU Assistant State Secretary Robbie Moore.
“CBS posted a profit last year, and is on track to post another surplus this year – but it wants to pay its workers less.
“A 12.5% drop in take-home pay will devastate CBS workers’. They will struggle to pay their bills and make ends meet,” says Robbie Moore.
“CBS Management continue to show contempt for clients and their families, through treating their workers with such little care.
“We have no choice now, but to broaden the campaign to enlist the support of community members.”
Clients and families are demonstrating strong support for CBS Workers. Many have signed pledges of support for CBS workers, and are posting photos via social media. HACSU will now extend the campaign though increasing both the scope of the social media campaign, and through commercial radio advertising.
“CBS refuse to listen to their workers – but perhaps they will take notice of community disapproval for their actions. After all, they are meant to be a community organisation.”
