The Tasmanian Writers’ Centre is thrilled to present Benjamin Law for an intimate evening speaking about his life and work, and for two special masterclasses for writers.
Benjamin will be travelling from Hobart to appear at the Sydney Writers’ Festival. There he will be speaking at six events, including interviewing Breaking Bad creator and producer, Vince Galligan, and talking with his sister about their new book Sh*t Asian Mothers Say. Benjamin Law is a Sydney-based journalist, columnist and screenwriter, and has completed a PhD in television writing and cultural studies. He is the author of two books: the black comedy memoir The Family Law and the travel adventure Gaysia: Adventures in the Queer East, both of which were nominated for Australian Book Industry Awards. He also co-authored the comedy book Sh*t Asian Mothers Say (2014) with his sister Michelle and illustrator Oslo Davis. He is currently developing The Family Law for television and working on his third book. He is a columnist for frankie and QWeekend, and contributes long-form journalism to The Monthly and Good Weekend.
