The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, has joined doctors and nurses and called on the State Government to end the uncertainty surrounding the tenure of the chief executive of the Royal Hobart Hospital.
“The Royal Hobart Hospital is in crisis and the last thing staff, patients and the community need is more uncertainty,’’ Mr Wilkie said.
“There has been a revolving door of CEOs at the RHH and what’s needed in this period of change, upheaval and budget challenges is stability and transparency.
“The State Government needs to be frank with the public and tell us who is in charge of the Royal Hobart Hospital.’’
Mr Wilkie secured $340m in federal funds for the RHH redevelopment following the 2010 election and another $325m for the Tasmanian health system in 2012.
He is also a member of the RHH Rescue Task Force’s professional reference group.
He is available for interview on request.
