Greens Leader Kim Booth MP today said the Liberal government’s self-congratulatory 30 days in power list, omitted details which would have provided a more accurate picture for evaluation.
“A self-congratulatory 30 days in power list smacks of attention-seeking to mask a deep sense of insecurity,” Mr Booth said.
“The community will see through this, and evaluate it against the actual track record which consists of back-flips, indecisiveness, and abandonment of vulnerable Tasmanians.”
“The public have seen forestry policy backflips, and embarrassing public contradictions between the Premier and his Forestry minister over the promise to withdraw immediately public subsidies from Forestry Tasmania.”
“The reality that the Liberals do not have a forestry plan, despite all their promises to build the timber industry over the last four years, is evident in the dumping of Peter Gutwein from that portfolio and their attempts now to distance themselves as fast as possible from his election promises.”
“These last 30 days have also set the alarm bells ringing loudly with the telling absence of the Climate Change portfolio, as well as the Children, and Community Development portfolios in the Liberal Cabinet.”
“Clearly, the hubris of issuing a 30 day congratulatory report card to themselves, just shows the novelty of government has yet to wear off for the Liberals, but it will wear off pretty quickly for Tasmanians,” Mr Booth said.
