
WORLD RENOWNED ASTROPHYSICIST VISITS LAUNCESTON FOR ONE WEEK!
The Launceston Easter Community Festival features internationally renowned Dr Hugh Ross a highly regarded scientist with a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Toronto. He is listed on the Superstars of Science website as one of the world’s greatest scientists. He is also regarded as one of the world’s leading cosmologists and is the author of more than five books in this field including The Creator and the Cosmos, More Than a Theory, and Why the Universe Is the Way It Is. He has addressed students and faculty on over 300 campuses in the United States and abroad on a wide variety of science-faith topics and is the founder and president of Reasons To Believe. Dr Ross is in-demand as a speaker at Science conferences, Church conferences and in government laboratories. Along with his team of scientists at the Reasons to Believe Think-Tank, Dr Ross came to international renown by being one of the first scientists to harmonise the facts of science with the biblical record by developing a testable creation model. Launceston’s inaugural Easter Community Festival in the Albert Hall and City Park on Good Friday and Easter Eve is proving to be an unprecedented opportunity for inspirational creativity, with a special exhibition of creative arts by amateur and professional artists, sculptors, ceramicists, photographers and craftspeople of Tasmania and beyond.The organising committee chose the theme “Emerge”, to provide inspiration for many different forms of creative art and an opportunity for emerging and student creative artists to exhibit their work alongside professionals. Everyone is welcome to the creative art exhibition in the magnificent Albert Hall venue and the adjacent City Park, where there will also be musical, drama, dance, clowning and other presentations, in a fun, family-friendly festival with both indoor and outdoor catering.

Old Nelligan, a former vaudeville entertainer appears in an innerurban site under a railway overpass. His daily existence isenriched by memories of his past. Refusing to succumb to oldage and loneliness, he gathers an audience and creates aneighbourhood show. His memories take over as a clotheslinebecomes a circus slack-wire and he transports his audience intohis imaginative world and the magical world of the circus of hisvaudeville days.

The programme is designed to provide fascination and creative expression for people of all ages and across a wide range of genres. Weather permitting, it holds promise to be a feast of colour, culture, creativity and community.
VALUABLE WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES STILL AVAILABLE
The festival includes exceptional opportunities to participate in a range of workshops on Saturday 19th April with professional tutors. Some places are still open (but limited) in Peter Gray’s 2pm clowning & circus skills workshop, Sandra Peterson’s 1-3pm portrait workshop, Melissa Wimmer’s 3pm Theatrical Dance children and youth workshop.
LAUNCESTON’S FIRST MULTICULTURAL EASTER CELEBRATION
Everyone with a welcoming heart is welcome to this celebration which includes multicultural food options including Turkish, Italian, vegetarian, gluten-free & standard Tacos de Pancho. Performances include a spectacular diversity of Island, Latin & Assyrian dancesas well as a vibrant and colourful Bollywood dance. The Korean community will demonstrate their traditional Easter Egg decorating. All are encouraged to wear their cultural dress. There will be an audiovisual presentation of the gleams of hope emerging from trauma in Africa, as well as, of course the rich diversity of music, drumming and laughter that characterises the joy of multicultural celebration.
