The world’s biggest little play festival hits Hobart

The Short + Sweet theatre festival began in Sydney 13 years ago and their recent festival showcased 170 plays.

“Short +Sweet, Hobart is about showcasing local writers, directors + actors from all ranges of experience” says festival director Ros Peck. “The emphasis in on being involved and anyone can have a go, we’ll have loads of fun and offer support and mentorship where needed.”

“S+S festivals occur in 22 cities in 7 countries around the world and all play submissions are included in the 2014 S+S library for production in any festival around the world” Peck says “The opportunities are enormous.”

Offering writing/acting/directing/technical workshops run by world class professionals in their field at very low prices gives our talented artists a great opportunity to learn new skills and expand their network.

May 16,17,18 workshop is “How to write a 10 minute play” with award winning Australian playwright Alex Broun, one of Australia’s most performed playwrights all over Australia and the world, contact Ros ASAP spaces are limited.

July 19 and 20 Kate Gaul returns to Hobart to present her dynamic Acting and Directing workshops.

Submissions for scripts, actors and directors are now open until June 10.
