… AND ADOPT ANTI-HOMOPHOBIA POLICIES
Tasmanian gay activists have welcomed the adoption of anti-homophobia and inclusion policies by Australia’s major sporting codes and called on Tasmania’s sporting authorities to do the same.
Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group spokesperson, Rodney Croome, said,
“Sport builds bridges and it’s great to see the major codes building bridges to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender players and fans.”
“What should matter on the sporting field is not who you but how well you play.”
“We call on the Tasmanian State Football League, the Football Federation of Tasmania and Cricket Tasmania to follow the lead of their national counterparts and develop their own anti-homophobia and inclusion policies.”
“This will send a strong message to Tasmania players and fans that everyone is welcome.”
